The council鈥檚 Greg Tyler said China in 2020 quickly became a top two market for U.S. poultry alongside Mexico.

鈥淎nd it continues to grow. We鈥檝e had a phenomenal amount of success getting back into the Chinese market,鈥 he said.

China is one of the few places on Earth that imports chicken paws.

鈥淐hicken paws normally would go to the rendering plant here in the U.S. at about $0.02 per pound. But the Chinese will pay $0.80 on up.鈥

He says there are other populations that consume chicken paws, but China is by far the biggest customer.
